Marshmallows!

A friend of mine posted this video on his blog for those who watched or heard about the Priesthood Session of General Conference. I don't know what was talked about and why this video was shared, but I gathered my own analogy from it. Watch it and read what I have to say about it at the bottom.

(((( I TOOK THIS VIDEO OFF--- IT WAS HUGE!!!)))

I think there are times in life when we are faced with temptations, (aka. Marshmallows). We have the object sitting right in front of our face. Some people toss it around for a while and delve into it a little and then jump out of it. Some people are like the boy who grabbed it and stuck it in front of his mouth and then threw it back on the plate and banged his head. We come so close to going into it full force that we have to toss it away and then kill ourselves because of the anxiety that we have over it. I was thinking what would I do in this situation and I would leave the chair and sit across the room, which is when I realized, I run from my problems because sometimes I don't think I have self-control. BUT there are some instances and according to the temptation, we do need to be like Joseph (Genesis 32:19) "and he got himself out". You can decide what you need to do. Eat the marshmallow and don't obey the commandments, gently caress the marshmallow and think that you didn't commit a sin because you didn't really do anything bad, or leave the marshmallow alone and focus your thoughts elsewhere because you want to find the inner strength and exercise self-control. You are always going to be better than those "marshmallows" because you control your brain and you decide how to act. I think I've found my lesson for Sunday.
