From the Heart: Mission of Christ

I was reading in the Doctrine and Covenants this morning preparing for my exam and ran upon these verses that really struck me.

Doctrine and Covenants Section 76, verses 40-42:

40: "And this is the gospel, the glad tidings, which the voice of the heavens bore record unto us -
41: That he came into the world, even Jesus, to be crucified for the world, and to bear the sins of the world, and to sanctify the world, and to cleanse it from all unrighteousness;
42: That through him all might be saved..."

I had never really read this verse before, or if I have, I have never contemplated the impact it has on all mankind. Jesus Christ, sacrificed himself for each of us so that we could come back into the presence of the Father. How selfless. He could have said, "I won't do it, they don't deserve it." But he didn't. He loved us with a perfect love and how grateful I am to Him for giving me the chance to progress and to become perfected as He is. He is my Savior. He is the Redeemer of the world and he loves you and he loves me, more than we can even imagine.
