Do not Recommend

So I am reading The Pursuit of Happyness by Chris Gardner.

I do not recommend it. Too many sexual references and things that aren't necessarily good. Even though I've read books that are much worse than this for High School it just isn't the kind of book I get pleasure out of reading.

However, I did find one good quote if not anything else...

"Others may question your credentials, your papers, your degrees. Others may look for all kinds of ways to diminish your worth. But what is inside you no one can take from you or tarnish. This is your worth, who you really are, your degree that can go with you wherever you go, that you bring with you the moment you come into a room, that can't be manipulated or shaken. Without that sense of self, no amount of paper, no pedigree, and no credentials can make you legit. No matter what, you have to feel legit first."
-Bettye Jean Gardner Triplett (Chris Gardener's Mother)

How true that is. If we can develop a strong sense of self worth and self esteem, no matter how many taunting phrases and crude comments come from others we can withstand all of those blows and make something of ourselves. Carry your heads high and don't ever get discouraged. If you want to do something in life, go for it! The power is within you and no one can detour you once you've made up your mind.

Oh-- the movie is better than the book.... Even though the book tells his whole life.
